Toledo

Toledo is the district located in southern Belize, and is far less tourist than central and northern Belize. It is covered with jungles, Mayan ruins, and natural spring lakes and rivers, which offer some of the best fishing in Belize. The rainforest is still quite undiscovered, and includes thousands of species of plants and animals and includes many wildlife reserves.

This southern district is highly agricultural, mainly consisting of small town farmers. The current population of Toledo is about 24,000 people. Although it does not have as many tourists, there are still plenty of activities, hotels, and great restaurants located in the Toledo district to make any adventuresome vacationer happy. Anyone with a desire for the more authentic Belize, Toledo is the place, with Mayan villages and people still scattered throughout the district.
