Getting There

Airplane
This is the most common mode of transportation used in getting to the great country of Belize. There are many major airline carriers from the United States and Canada who provide frequent flights to Belize. Relatively priced, this is the perfect option for anyone traveling a larger distance. You most likely will not find a direct flight to Belize, but have to make a stop, the most common cities being either Houston or Atlanta. Another alternative is to use the local airlines, such as Tropic Air or Island Air in order to get from place to place in the Central American countries. When entering Belize from an aircraft, you need proper identification, along with a passport and possibly a visa, depending on your country origin.
Boat
Many who have visited Belize have done so by docking in a cruise ship. Belize is a popular destination and stop for a one-day excursion while on a Caribbean cruise. Since the Caribbean area is such a popular cruise destination, there are many carriers stopping in Belize. In order to dock in Belize, and get back on a cruise ship, you will need identification, along with your cruise card and proper passport. Check with the cruise line for specific rules. You can also catch small water taxis, which only make their way to a few of Belize’s great destinations. This option is not nearly as convenient, being fairly inaccessible to accommodate those traveling a long distance.
Road
Not nearly as convenient as boat or plane, you may get to Belize by driving. It is a rather long drive, with great stretches of unmarked highway to make your way here. In order to entire Belize by car you must have the proper identification, certification, and traveling permits. Check your countries policies on international travel to Belize to ensure you will have the documentation you need in order to enter the country.
