Fishing tips:

  • Hire a guide. It is easier for a native fisherman to show you the great places to fish, rather than have you spend all day looking around for a decent catch.
  • Rent a chartered boat. Although they can get pricy, the best fish will come from further out than just the shore. Belize has many great fishing spots, just minutes from the shore.
  • Add a little variety! If you have only ever fished at the Cayes, move to mainland Belize. With many rivers scattered throughout the country, great fish are bound to be caught. For the best hope of success, fish near the mouth of the river.
  • Try the coast. Not only is that coast good for diving and sun-bathing, but the fishing is great.
